Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside!

I feel lately that i've been a little black and white focused...it seems to bring out the key elements in some of my recent pictures. Indeed there are some pictures from the beach which are black and white but i tried to make sure there's a good splash of colour in there to lighten everything up!

Revisited

I find it really interesting how your opinions can change over time. Most applicably with my photographs. There are shots that i am instantly happy with and will happily upload straight away, some that need little tweeks and others which quite frankly i think don't cut the mustard.

After re-visiting some albums before i had the realisation that this of course can change with time. And so here are some pictures which have been recently revived.

Its nice that they have some colour as many of my recent bits have been in black and white.

Narnia...I Wish!

I won't say much on these but reflective of the weather...that is all!

Winter Wonderland

Some pictures of the very snowy trees, just hoping it doesn't disappear too soon.

Secluded

Some pictures from today's walk - mightily disappointed the snow hadn't arrived but never mind! Had a good old play with them afterwards and added some vignette and extra shadowing.

There's definitely a touch of the Blair witch!

Muddy Walks

I've been playing with my Nexus after a very muddy walk today and I'm actually quite impressed! Its worked extremely well especially on the sky shots which are so much more dramatic.

A New Start

Here's to 2013 and a year filled with photography among other exciting adventures. 2012 was a long old slog of a year and at times simply getting out to take photographs was a challenge however there is plenty in the pipeline for this year with lots of trips and travelling planned which i am so excited about!

Starting the year as you mean to go on here are some first pictures of the year!

Land Ahoy

Crete was a fabulous place and was way beyond my expectations. It's a very dramatic island with lots of mountains and so am really looking forward to going back at some point to discover it even more. There were lots of lovely towns with pretty harbours hence the pictures below.

Reminders Of Sun

It seems so strange to be sitting here almost the end of October and be uploading pictures from a sunny sunny holiday. With The Shining on in the background (bit of a Halloween vibe going on) I'm making it slightly less scary by finally updating the blog.

The below pictures are from my honeymoon to Crete woohoo! These were taken at Gournia which is one of the ancient Greek settlements. Only the rocks really remain but well worth it for the views out to sea. I don't do it justice by saying that as it was really interesting...honest!

Autumn

Sat here in about 5 layers of clothes...in utter denial that i need to put the heating on i'm looking through my most recent pictures and i can't deny autumn is here!

An Evenings Pastoral

A rural, very idylic view!

Behind Bars

The same pictures in four styles.

Fountains Abbey Carried On

The last few pictures from the Abbey.

Fountains Abbey

From a recent trip to Fountains Abbey. For anyone interested in history and architecture it is an amazing place and so interesting. Unfortunately it was a flying visit but definitely will be returning!

I couldn't bring myself to do much editing to these photos. Mainly due to the fact it was actually sunny and well that's too much of a novelty to miss!

Well maybe a little editing wont do an harm!

Oberammergau

Oberammergau was THE most peaceful place to just rest and relax in some of the most breathtaking scenery. They host the passion play every 10 years after the villagers pledged to re-enact the crucifixion of Christ if the black death spared their village - it did. And they still have the play true to their word. It's also great that all the villagers make up the cast so the friendly chap who was pouring my weissbier was probably lined up to play Jesus!

Atmosphere

There are lots more castle pictures from today but this is the other favourite...with no actual castles in sight. A very atmospheric walk to the castle, would be great at night....if i'm feeling brave!

Heritage

I visited a beautiful castle today in a very peaceful and rural location - which was great not to have swarms of people! There were also some amazing trees and so it was a great opportunity to practise with the wide angled lens. I'm really pleased with the effect of the branches really filling the picture.

Grain

I've actually been much more disciplined at adding pictures on Facebook lately which is probably a lazy way of doing it but nevertheless this is one of the pictures that i uploaded there ages ago.
